UK and US values are approximate conversions and differ between makers. The European size is the reference.
Enter the foot length you measured in the box above and we will show which size it comes to, along with the UK and US equivalents. You can enter the measurement in centimetres or inches.
How to measure the foot is explained on the The right size page. In short: stand your child on a sheet of paper with the heel against the wall, mark the tip of the longest toe, measure both feet and use the longer one.
What the room in front of the toes is for
A size describes the length of the last, not of the foot. Last = foot length + toe room. That space stays in front of the toes and lets the shoe last a few months longer.
With the slider above you can vary that room between 1 and 1.5 cm. Increasing it recommends a larger size for the same foot.
Where the numbers in the table come from
In European sizing the step between two neighbouring sizes is fixed: the Paris point, two thirds of a centimetre. In the British system the step is a third of an inch, and children's size 0 corresponds to a 4-inch last. Every value in the table is calculated from these two measures.
